Coturnicops noveboracensis
Synopsis:
Nesting restricted to short, wet, grassy, meadows in a small portion
of Oregon. The records from southern Lake and
northern Klamath Counties - neither confirmed as nesters- are especially
notable.
Habitat Associations:
strongest
Edges of Cropland/Pasture/Orchard (19086 acres)
Relative Detectability:
Extremely difficult to see. Detected primarily by
nocturnal calls. This species was the focus of surveys
by the Oregon Natural Heritage Program during the atlas project period.
Challenge:
Survey suitable wetlands elsewhere in Lake and Klamath
Counties.
